Tohoku University Technology: Diagnostic Method for Urogenital System Cancer: T07-005
It is possible to achieve a more accurate diagnosis than the diagnosis using PSA as an indicator for prostate cancer.
Traditionally, PSA has been known as an early diagnostic marker for prostate cancer. However, PSA levels can rise not only in prostate cancer but also in benign prostatic disease (BPD), lacking specificity. The present invention relates to a diagnostic method for urogenital system cancers that uses the level of haptoglobin beta chain or its fragments, which specifically bind to RM2 antibodies isolated from tissues or body fluids of the subject, as an indicator.
